Tourism Website Upgrades Trip Planning Map Features

Planning a trip to Newfoundland and Labrador just got a little easier.

The trip planning map on the Newfoundland and Labrador Tourism website (www.newfoundlandandlabrador.com/maps) has been upgraded to enable users to more effectively organize and plan their entire vacation, from start to finish.

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, said the new trip planning map is an excellent tool for potential visitors to use as they make their travel plans.

"Whether visiting the province for a weekend get-away or a month-long journey, the newly-upgraded trip planning map will allow visitors to get where they want to go and better plan what they want to see and do," said Minister Jackman. "Interactive and versatile, the new map features allow users to pinpoint and search for accommodations, festivals and events, attractions, parks, shops and tours, and more and to add individual points of interest to their travel itinerary."

The provinces tourism website is one component of a national and international award-winning marketing strategy which has helped tourism grow to an almost $800 million annual industry that supports more than 12,730 direct tourism-related jobs.

Budget 2009 provides an additional $1 million for tourism marketing, bringing the total annual budget to $13 million. The Provincial Government has more than doubled its annual marketing budget since 2004, allowing for a stronger presence in key national and international markets.
