Eight medals for Edge
Diving Club at Atlantic Diving Championships
Nine divers from the Edge Diving Club
participated in the Atlantic Diving Championships in Halifax this past
weekend against diving clubs from, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and
Nova Scotia.
Aaron Thorne of Torbay, won three gold
medals and was named Atlantic Diving Champion for his age group (14 �
15), while team mate Quinn Crane had a silver on platform, bronze on
three-metre and a fifth place finish on one-metre. Quinn met the
qualifying score to compete at the Nationals in the three-metre event.
Aaron has already qualified for nationals.
Kate McCarthy of Holyrood competed in the
Senior Platform event earning a bronze medal for her effort. Liam Maher
of St. John�s had a bronze medal on the one-metre board and made the
qualifying score for nationals in his age division (12� 13 years) and
top six place finishes on the three-metre and platform. Molly Wilson of
St. John�s competing in the 10 � 11 year old event, had a bronze medal
on the three-metre and also met the national qualifying score. She also
finished fourth on one-metre.
Liam Lewis of St. John�s was sixth on 1
meter and seventh on the three-metre board while Alex Scott of CBS
placed sixth on three-metre and ninth on one-metre. Both boys competed
in the 10 � 11 age class. In the 12 � 13 age group event, Riley Crane
had a top six finish on the one-metre and platform events and a seventh
place finish on the three-metre. Christopher Kent of CBS was fourth on
one-metre and platform. Christopher competed in the 14 � 15 year old age
group. Most of these divers are Canada Games contenders. Coaches Jill
Brewer and Rob Scott accompanied the team. Edge Diving�s next
competition will be the Ontario Provincials taking place May 29 � 31.
