Edge Diving Club Big Winners at
Provincial Diving Championships
Thirty divers from the Edge Diving Club and Cygnus
Diving Club from Halifax participated in the Provincial Diving
Championships in St. John�s this past weekend with some impressive
results.
Aaron Thorne of Torbay earned six gold medals and
attained the qualifying score on all three boards necessary to compete
at the Speedo Junior National Championships (ages 11-18) in Victoria,
B.C. from July 9-12. Teammate Quinn Crane of St. John�s had five silver
medals and a bronze and also met the qualifying standard on the platform
and 3-metre boards. Quinn�s brother Riley Crane of St. John�s was the
only other diver in the meet to obtain the qualifying standard on all
three boards, one-metre, 3-metre and platform. Riley had two gold medals
and a silver while teammate Liam Maher had one gold and two silver. Liam
qualified on the 3-metre and one-metre boards as well. Liam Lewis won
gold on 3-metre and silver on one-metre while Alex Scott won gold on
one-metre and silver on 3-metre in their age group (age 10-11).
Kate McCarthy of Holyrood won three gold medals in the
women�s open event while teammate Kaitlin Thomas won gold on one-metre
and 3-metre and bronze in the open event. Kaitlin met the national
standard on one-metre. Molly Wilson of St. John�s won two gold medals
and met the qualifying standard on the 3-metre board. Seven-year-old
Sarah Lewis won gold on the one-metre and Lily Bertolo, also 7, won gold
on the 3-metre. In Tier II, gold medal winners included Jeremy Masse,
Tristin Lee, Brook Okanee, Patrick Whelan and Kelsie Clayton. Silver
medalists include Sophie Bertolo and Ashley McCarthy. Halifax Divers
swept the ladies "B" event and men�s "A" events.

Summary Results
"Q" means met national qualifying standard. Must meet
this standard at two sanctioned events
