Public Advisory: Prescribed Burn to be Conducted

The Department of Natural Resources advises that it will conduct a 25-hectare prescribed burn starting Friday, September 11, weather permitting, at an area referred to as Grindstone, near the headwaters of Mary March Brook. The burn site is located approximately 20 kilometres north of the community of Millertown in Forest Management District 12.

The prescribed burn is being conducted as part of a silviculture management activity to prepare the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of adelgid, a naturally-occurring forest pest which limits tree growth. The prescribed burn will take one to two days to complete. If weather and wind conditions are not favourable on Friday, the burn will proceed on Saturday or Sunday when conditions permit.
