The Department of Natural Resources
advises that it will conduct a 280-hectare prescribed
burn sometime between Thursday, September 10, and
Sunday, September 13, at an area referred to as River
Brook near the community of St. Fintan�s in Forest
Management District 14. The burn is being conducted as
part of a silviculture management activity to prepare
the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of
adelgid, a naturally occurring forest pest which limits
tree growth.
The prescribed burn will take place in
close proximity to the Trans-Canada Highway and will
