Public Advisory: Prescribed Burn to be Conducted

The Department of Natural Resources advises that it will conduct a 280-hectare prescribed burn sometime between Thursday, September 10, and Sunday, September 13, at an area referred to as River Brook near the community of St. Fintans in Forest Management District 14. The burn is being conducted as part of a silviculture management activity to prepare the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of adelgid, a naturally occurring forest pest which limits tree growth.

The prescribed burn will take place in close proximity to the Trans-Canada Highway and will take one day to complete. It will proceed if weather and wind conditions permit.
