Public Advisory: Prescribed Burn to be Conducted

The Department of Natural Resources advises that it intends to conduct an approximate 105-hectare prescribed burn on Friday, September 4, at an area referred to as Faulkners Flats in Forest Management District 16. The site is located approximately five kilometres directly northwest of the community of Hampden and 13 kilometres inside the Clam Pond resource road. The burn is being conducted as part of silviculture management to prepare the site for planting and to eliminate the threat of adelgid, a naturally-occurring forest pest which limits tree growth.

The prescribed burn will proceed providing weather and wind conditions permit. It will take one day to complete.
