Department Issues Clarification Regarding Revenue from Hibernia

The Department of Natural Resources wishes to clarify the number of barrels produced from Hibernia to the end of March 31, 2009, and the value to the provincial treasury from that production.

Information contained in a news release issued June 16, 2009, entitled, Province Achieves Increased Equity Stake, Top Royalty Rate in Hibernia South Extension, stated: "The original Hibernia field has produced 670 million barrels to date and the provincial treasury has seen $3.9 billion from that production."

The correct figures are approximately 630 million barrels with revenue valued at $1.9 billion.

The error was a human transcription error isolated to the historic value of Hibernia main field production to the province and does not affect any other numbers in the news release or any other publications.
