The Honourable Dianne Whalen, Minister of Municipal Affairs, today announced municipal capital works investments totalling approximately $500,000 in support of a number of community initiatives to improve the delivery of municipal services in municipalities throughout the province.

"Our government is dedicated to fostering the long-term economic growth of communities by strategically investing in a variety of capital projects to strengthen services for residents across the province," said Minister Whalen. "The projects announced today will help deliver strong, reliable municipal services and will assist in meeting infrastructure needs."

Infrastructure projects supported through municipal capital works funding include:

This commitment increased the capital budget by $34.4 million annually, bringing the total annual Provincial Government commitment to $84.3 million.

The Provincial Government's infrastructure strategy is valued at more than $4 billion over the next several years. Provincial infrastructure projects totalling $1.6 billion will be tendered this fiscal year, creating an estimated 15,000 jobs (some seasonal) and providing significant economic stimulus to the economy of Newfoundland and Labrador.
