Springdale-based Inn to Launch
Marketing Campaign with Provincial Government Support
Springdale-based Riverwood Inn is launching a
marketing campaign with a $25,000 investment from the Provincial
Government. The objective of the new campaign is to increase awareness
of and visitors to the inn from the Atlantic Canadian and Ontario
markets.
"Marketing is an essential exercise for local
businesses as they look to attract interest from outside the province,"
said the Honourable Shawn Skinner, Minister of Innovation, Trade and
Rural Development. "Small businesses like Riverwood Inn play a key role
in the local and provincial economies. Through improved marketing it
will be able to lever existing assets and contribute to growing the
Springdale area."
Operated by Riverwood Holdings, Riverwood Inn is a 4.5
star rated, five-room chalet on the Indian River. The marketing campaign
will be primarily web-based and enable key audiences to access
information on available packages and the surrounding area. As part of
its campaign, the company will also travel to trade shows in key
markets.
"In our first two years of operation, Riverwood has
been successful in attracting tourists from around the continent and
with improved marketing efforts we are confident than we can further
penetrate this important market segment," said Chad Wells, owner of
Riverwood Inn. "We are pleased to be partnering with the Provincial
Government in fostering the growth of the tourism industry in central
Newfoundland."
Kevin Pollard, the MHA for Baie Verte-Springdale,
views the inns marketing campaign as having a positive impact on the
community.
"It is great to see a local company identify
opportunities to expand its market," said Mr. Pollard. "To have the
programs in place designed to support small businesses is important to
ensuring the continued success of our industries. I hope that more
businesses recognize the importance and value of such programs in
growing their operations."
Funding for the marketing campaign was provided
through the Business and Market Development Program. Administered by the
Department of Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, the Business and
Market Development Program is designed to provide new entrepreneurs and
expanding small businesses with matching funding to help them acquire
the necessary expertise to pursue new business ideas and new markets for
their products or services.
