Webcast of House of Assembly Proceedings Available

Speaker Roger Fitzgerald announced today that live webcasts of the proceedings of the House of Assembly will be available via the House of Assembly website on Wednesday, March 25, commencing with the Speech from the Throne for the 46th General Assembly, 2nd Session.

Since November 2001, proceedings of the House of Assembly have been televised live on cable television throughout the province. However, members of the public who wished to view the proceedings needed cable access and needed to be at home during the time of the live telecast, which was usually in the afternoons. Proceedings were not rebroadcast due to the costs involved. In addition to the live television broadcast, the public can now view the proceedings via any home or public access computer at the following address:

The webcast of the House proceedings will also be archived on the website allowing members of the public to watch the proceedings at their own convenience.

Speaker Fitzgerald said "Webcasting provides members of the public greater flexibility in how and when they view the proceedings of the House. I am pleased to see that the proceedings of the Legislature are more accessible to the people of our province.

"I would also like to acknowledge the efforts of employees in the Broadcast Centre and in the Legislative Library who have worked to make this possible."
