The Honourable Ross Wiseman, Minister of Health and Community
Services, and Joan Dawe, Chair of the Board of Trustees, Eastern Health,
today named Vickie Kaminski as the new President and Chief Executive
Officer of Eastern Health.
"I am pleased to welcome Ms. Kaminski to her new role," said Minister
Wiseman. "Ms. Kaminski brings with her a wealth of knowledge, experience
and a commitment to excellence in health care. Her leadership will
assist in ensuring high-quality health and community services throughout
the Eastern Region."
"We are delighted that Ms. Kaminski has accepted the leadership role
of Eastern Health. Her proven track record as a strong leader, coupled
with her broad base of health care experience will make her a key asset
in the future of health services delivery in the Eastern Health region,
and in the entire province," said Ms Dawe.
Ms Kaminski currently holds the position of President and Chief
Executive Officer of the Sudbury Regional Hospital (HRSRH) which
represents the integration of three acute care institutions, a cancer
treatment centre and a mental health facility. The HRSRH is one of the
largest tertiary regional referral centres in Ontario, serving a
population of approximately 600,000 providing cardiac, trauma, oncology,
women�s and children�s services.
Ms. Kaminski brings to Eastern Health more than 25 years of senior
executive leadership experience in the delivery of a broad range of
health care services. She is a graduate of Laurentian University and the
Kellogg / Schulich MBA program; a member of the Canadian College of
Health Services Executives and a surveyor with Accreditation Canada.

its community partners and stakeholders in the shared goal to provide

Formed in 2005 from the merger of seven health organizations, Eastern
Health offers a full continuum of health and community services and
covers the area from St John�s to Port Blandford, including the Avalon,
Burin and Bonavista Peninsulas.
With over 12,000 employees, Eastern Health is the largest integrated
health organization in Atlantic Canada, serving a regional population of
300,000. It also offers province-wide tertiary health care services and
is a highly respected teaching and research organization.
Ms Kaminski will start in her position as President and Chief
Executive Officer of Eastern Health on June 15, 2009.
