Occupational Health and Safety Branch Lays Charges against Birchy Bay Company

The Department of Government Services announced today that a Birchy Bay, Notre Dame Bay, company has been charged with three violations of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. The charges arose from inspections which occurred in Grand Falls-Windsor between January and August 2008. No accident or injury had occurred.

D.E.T. Enterprises Ltd. is alleged to have violated occupational health and safety regulations requiring fall protection, a firm foundation or sills to support scaffolding, and scaffold guardrails.

The first appearance for the company is scheduled for April 27, 2009, at Grand Falls-Windsor Provincial Court.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the Occupational Health and Safety Branch.
