Minister Responds to NLNU Letter

The Honourable Jerome Kennedy, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, sent a letter to the Newfoundland and Labrador Nurses� Union (NLNU) yesterday (Tuesday, February 3) in response to a letter from the NLNU dated January 30, 2009.

"I indicated to the NLNU in my letter that the issues of recruitment, retention and working conditions for nurses remain important issues," said Minister Kennedy. "Government welcomes the opportunity to recommence negotiations with nurses. Let�s get all the issues on the table and return to bargaining for everyone�s benefit."

Minister Kennedy said he will await a response from the NLNU regarding their availability, with the hope that negotiations can commence immediately.
