Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has
announced the following events relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the
Environmental Protection Act.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
STATEMENT ACCEPTED:
Schefferville Area Iron
Ore Mine (James and Redmond Properties)
Proponent: Labrador Iron Mines Limited (Reg. 1379)
A review has been
completed of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) as
revised for
this proposed undertaking. This re-submitted EIS
complies with Part X of the Environmental Protection Act
(the Act) and the Guidelines of 2008 12 12 for this
Project, and requires no further work. The Minister will
now be recommending to the Lieutenant-Governor in
Council whether or not this Project can proceed as per
Section 67 of the Act, subject to terms and conditions.
