Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

ENVIRONMENTAL PREVIEW REPORT SUBMITTED:

St. Lawrence Fluorspar Mine Reactivation (Reg. 1418)
Proponent: Canada Fluorspar (NL) Inc.

The proponent has submitted an Environmental Preview Report (EPR) and Federal Environmental Assessment Report for the above undertaking. The EPR and Federal Environmental Assessment Report was required to address deficiencies in the registration document to determine the significance of any environmental effects. Guidelines for the preparation of the EPR and Federal Environmental Assessment Report were issued on September 15, 2009. Public comments regarding the document are welcome and must be received no later than December 14, 2009. The document can be viewed on the Department�s website indicated below. The Minister will decide the acceptability of the EPR not later than December 24, 2009, upon receiving recommendations from the Assessment Committee.
