Cottage Lots for Sale at Joes Lake, Central Newfoundland

Nineteen Crown land cottage lots are being made available for public draw at Joes Lake, central Newfoundland. The lots will be sold as grants (outright ownership), with the full price due upon signature of the grant document.

Our government is committed to effectively administering and managing the Crown land resource in an environmentally-responsible manner, said the Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation. "We are delighted that we can make available Crown land for planned cottage lots through our public draw process. This planned approach to cottage development illustrates the ongoing commitment of government to meeting the recreational needs of our citizens in a fair and responsible manner.

Individuals interested in obtaining a lot must submit an application to the Central Regional Lands Office, 230 Airport Boulevard, Fraser Mall, Gander. Applications must be received there no later than 4:30 p.m., Friday, September 18. Applications received after the deadline will not be eligible.

An application fee of $113 is required, and the fee will be credited towards the successful applications. This fee will be fully refunded to applicants who do not obtain a lot. A public draw to determine applicant selection order through a random draw process for the 19 lots will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24, at the Central Regional Lands Office. Applicants may attend the meetings, but attendance is not necessary.

Following the random draws, applicants will be contacted by certified mail advising them of the ranking of their application. The selection of lots will take place at subsequent public meetings on dates to be announced, and attendance by applicants or their proxy will be required at those meetings.

Applicants are strongly advised to inspect lots and to view evaluation reports for the lots prior to the selection meeting. In an effort to ensure equal access to this resource, any lots remaining after the lot selection meeting will be offered to the public on a first-come, first-served basis on the next usual business day.

We place great value on our natural heritage, and the management of our Crown land is a responsibility we take very seriously, said Minister Johnson. We want to ensure that our land management plans ensure equal access for all people in the province.
