Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Charlene Johnson,
Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced
the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental
Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
Gilmore Cranberry Farm, Bishop's Falls
South
Proponent: Gilmore Cranberry Co., Inc.
(Reg. 1442)
The proposal is to develop a 10
hectare cranberry bog off an existing access road six
kilometres south on the Bay d� Espoir Highway. This
development will include an irrigation/sediment pond,
auxiliary buildings, water control structures, drainage
tile in the bed, an access road, and berm construction.
Harvesting includes flooding each field with 45
centimetres of water, independently, and removal with a
cranberry beater. Standard pesticides will be utilized
during operation. The project will commence upon approval.
The undertaking was registered on
August 3, 2009; public comments are due by September 10,
2009; and, the minister's decision is due by September
17, 2009.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE

Parsons Pond Oil Exploration and
Access Road
Proponent: Leprechaun Resources Ltd.

The following agencies have been
appointed to the Environmental Assessment Committee for
the above undertaking and will provide the Minister with
scientific and technical advice on the Environmental
Preview Report (EPR):

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:
1) Peters River Cranberry Farm
Proponent: Peters River Cranberry (TBI)
(Reg. 1425)
The proponent must develop
monitoring survey protocols in consultations
with the Wildlife Division for waterfowl, other
bird species, and for any species at risk that
might be within the cranberry farm site area.
The annual results of these monitoring surveys
will be provided to, and discussed with the
Wildlife Division and Canadian Wildlife Service.
In addition, mitigation measures should be
developed to reduce human-waterfowl interactions
during construction and operation of the
cranberry farm.
2) Glenfair Farms Cranberry Farm
Proponent: Glenfair Farms Ltd. (Reg.
1427)
The proponent must develop
monitoring survey protocols in consultations
with the Wildlife Division for waterfowl, other
bird species, and for any species at risk that
might be within the cranberry farm site area.
The annual results of these monitoring surveys
will be provided to, and discussed with the
Wildlife Division and Canadian Wildlife Service.
In addition, mitigation measures should be
developed to reduce human-waterfowl interactions
during construction and operation of the
cranberry farm.
3) RECON Cranberry Farm (Peter's River
Area)
Proponent: RECON (TBI) (Reg. 1428)
The proponent must develop
monitoring survey protocols in consultations
with the Wildlife Division for waterfowl, other
bird species, and for any species at risk that
might be within the cranberry farm site area.
The annual results of these monitoring surveys
will be provided to, and discussed with the
Wildlife Division and Canadian Wildlife Service.
In addition, mitigation measures should be

during construction and operation of the
cranberry farm.
4) Northern Brook, Botwood Cranberry
Farm
Proponent: Mr. Ken Newhook (Reg. 1429)
The proponent must develop
monitoring survey protocols in consultations
with the Wildlife Division for waterfowl, other
bird species, and for any species at risk that
might be within the cranberry farm site area.
The annual results of these monitoring surveys
will be provided to, and discussed with the
Wildlife Division and Canadian Wildlife Service.
In addition, mitigation measures should be
developed to reduce human-waterfowl interactions
during construction and operation of the
cranberry farm.
5) Wooddale Cranberry Farm
Proponent: Bishop�s Cranberry Farm
(TBI) (Reg. 1430)
The proponent must develop
monitoring survey protocols in consultations
with the Wildlife Division for waterfowl, other
bird species, and for any species at risk that
might be within the cranberry farm site area.
The annual results of these monitoring surveys
will be provided to, and discussed with the
Wildlife Division and Canadian Wildlife Service.
In addition, mitigation measures should be
developed to reduce human-waterfowl interactions
during construction and operation of the
cranberry farm.
6) JAG Cranberry Farm
Proponent: JAG Sod Farm Ltd. (Reg.
1431)
This undertaking was released from
environmental assessment subject to the following
condition:
The proponent must develop
monitoring survey protocols in consultations
with the Wildlife Division for waterfowl, other
bird species, and for any species at risk that
might be within the cranberry farm site area.
The annual results of these monitoring surveys
will be provided to, and discussed with the
Wildlife Division and Canadian Wildlife Service.
