Media Advisory: Minister to Attend Launch of Pedal for the Planet Initiative

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, will attend the launch of the Newfoundland and Labrador KyotoPlus Coalition�s Pedal for the Planet initiative, tomorrow (Friday, July 3) at 10:00 a.m. at the parking lot of the Quidi Vidi Brewing Company Limited.

The bike-riding event is part of a nation-wide effort to educate Canadians about the significance of global warming and the need for a successful outcome at the upcoming climate change meetings in Copenhagen in December.

The Newfoundland and Labrador KyotoPlus Coalition comprises Oxfam; Newfoundland and Labrador Environment Network; Sierra Club of Canada � Atlantic Chapter; Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society � Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter; Canadian Federation of Students, MUN Students Union; World Wildlife Federation � Newfoundland and Labrador; OceanNet and BikeShare.
