The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and
Conservation, will attend the launch of the Newfoundland and Labrador
KyotoPlus Coalition’s Pedal for the Planet initiative, tomorrow (Friday,
July 3) at 10:00 a.m. at the parking lot of the Quidi Vidi Brewing
Company Limited.
The bike-riding event is part of a nation-wide effort to educate
Canadians about the significance of global warming and the need for a
successful outcome at the upcoming climate change meetings in Copenhagen
in December.
The Newfoundland and Labrador KyotoPlus Coalition comprises Oxfam;
Newfoundland and Labrador Environment Network; Sierra Club of Canada –
Atlantic Chapter; Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society – Newfoundland
and Labrador Chapter; Canadian Federation of Students, MUN Students
Union; World Wildlife Federation – Newfoundland and Labrador; OceanNet
and BikeShare.
