Environment and Conservation May 21, 2009 Environmental Assessment Bulletin
The Honourable Clyde Jackman, acting Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act. UNDERTAKING REGISTERED: Crook's Lake, Labrador Service Depot The proposal is to develop a Highways Transportation Depot south of Crook's Lake, Labrador. The site is located approximately 146.5 km west of the Cartwright Junction intersection on the Trans Labrador Highway. An area of approximately 10,000 m2 will be required for the construction and operation. The depot building will be located within an existing disturbed area whereby most of the clearing and grubbing has been undertaken through previous highway construction activities. The buildings will include a heavy equipment garage, a staff residence, which includes sleeping and kitchen quarters for three to four personnel, as well as bathroom/shower facilities. The building will be serviced by a drilled well and a septic tank and waste water disposal field. Above ground hydrocarbon storage will be provided for diesel fuel, stove oil and waste oil. The undertaking was registered on May 20, 2009; public comments are due by June 25, 2009; and, the minister�s decision is due by July 4, 2009.
