The Honourable Clyde Jackman, Minister (Acting) of Environment and
Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10
Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:
Botwood-Peterview Cranberry Farm
Proponent: Botwood-Peterview Cranberry (TBI) (Reg. 1421)
The proposal is to develop a cranberry operation south of the Town of
Botwood, adjacent to Route 350 and east of Peters Pond. The total area
of the proposal is 40 hectares, which includes 24 1.2 hectare cranberry
field beds. Construction will consist of cranberry bed development, an
irrigation pond, a sediment pond, two auxiliary buildings, water control
structures, and 600 metres of access road. Harvesting consists of
flooding each field, dislodging the cranberries with a beater and
gathering by a boom. The project is scheduled to commence upon approval.
The undertaking was registered on May 8, 2009; public comments are
due by June 12, 2009; and, the minister�s decision is due by June 22,
2009.
