Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED:

1.) Cape St. George Cottage Development
Proponent: CRA Holdings Ltd.                      
(Reg. 1374)

This undertaking was released from environmental assessment subject to the following condition:

  • The Proponent must conduct a full botanical survey prior to any site preparation in consultation with the Wildlife Division. The botanist should work in conjunction with the site surveyor and developer to insure that concentration of rare plants and habitat are not negatively impacted by this development.

    2.) Harcourt, Bonavista Peninsula, Forage Production (Crown Land #132763)
    Proponent: N & O Forage Producers Inc. (Reg. 1409)

    3.) Ming�s Bight Gold Deposit Bulk Sample
    Proponent: Tenacity Gold Mining Company Ltd. (Reg. 1412)

UNDERTAKINGS REJECTED:

1.) Newtown Cranberry Farm
Proponent: Beothic Fish Processors Ltd
(Reg. 1405)

Crown Land Title will not be issued due to unacceptable effects on waterfowl and wetlands for the designated Sensitive Wildlife Area (SWA) in which the undertaking is proposed.

2.) Harcourt, Bonavista Peninsula, Forage Production (Crown Land #132960) Proponent: N & O Forage Producers Inc. (Reg. 1410)

Crown Land Title will not be issued due to the high risk to contaminate private and communal shallow dug wells used to provide drinking water to local residents.
