The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of
Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events
relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the
Environmental Protection Act.
UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
White Bay Exploration Access Road
Proponent: Northern Abitibi Mining Corp. (Reg. 1408)
The proposal is to include the construction of a 2.6
kilometre access road to a mineral exploration site 10 kilometres south
of Sop�s Arm. The road is to begin off Route 420, immediately north of
White Bottom Pond and continue southwest to an existing logging road on
the Viking claim. The undertaking will transport the drill, personnel
and other exploration materials to the site and construction will
include excavation and tree removal. The road is to be re-claimed upon
completion of exploration, as per mineral exploration guidelines. The
exploration protocol at the Viking site will include nine trenches and
35 drill holes.
The undertaking was registered on February 20, 2009;
public comments are due by April 1, 2009, and, the minister's decision
is due by April 6, 2009.
Harcourt, Bonavista Peninsula, Forage Production
(Crown Land #132763)
Proponent: N & O Forage Producers Inc. (Reg. 1409)
The proposal is to develop approximately 47 hectares
of agricultural land within a 50 hectare Crown land agricultural lease.
The site is located off the Harcourt Resource Road, northwest Harcourt.
The development will require removal of all vegetation, stumps and
stones, as well as leveling, addition of soil amendments and planting of
forage seeds. There is an existing access to the site. No buildings or
other infrastructure will be constructed. Land clearing and development
will take place in 2009 and will be developed over a 10 year period.
The undertaking was registered on February 20, 2009;
public comments are due April 1, 2009; and the minister's decision is
due by April 6, 2009.
Harcourt, Bonavista Peninsula, Forage Production
(Crown Land #132960)
Proponent: N & O Forage Producers Inc. (Reg. 1410)
The proposal is to develop approximately 55 hectares
of agricultural land within a proposed 61 hectare Crown land
agricultural lease. The site is located adjacent to existing cleared
fields northwest of Harcourt. The development will require removal of
all vegetation, stumps and stones, as well as leveling, addition of soil
amendments and planting of forage seeds. There is an existing access to
the site. No buildings or other infrastructure will be constructed. Land
clearing and development will take place in 2009 and will be developed
over a 10 year period.
The undertaking was registered on February 20, 2009;
public comments are due April 1, 2009; and the minister's decision is
due by April 6, 2009.
