Media Advisory: Minister to Present Cheque to Student

The Honourable Darin King, Minister of Education, will be at Mount Pearl Intermediate at 2:00 p.m., tomorrow (Thursday, June 11) to make a cheque presentation. Paul Holley, a Grade 5 student submitted the winning poster that will be used as the front cover on the Department of Education�s new parent handbook. Paul will receive $200 while the school will be given $300.

The parent handbook is being developed to guide parents through the province�s K-12 education system. Topics to be addressed include everything from Kindergarten registration to student support services, school attendance and graduation requirements. The handbook will be ready for publication in fall 2009.
