Media Advisory: Minister to Attend Local Heritage Fair

The Honourable Joan Burke, Minister of Education, will attend Our Lady of Mercy Elementarys fourth annual heritage fair tomorrow (Friday, April 3) at 11:00 a.m. The school is located in St. Georges. Minister Burke will view projects prepared by students in Grades 5-8 on a topic of history that is of interest to them.

This is one of many fairs taking place in schools across the province and country. Since the heritage fair program began in 1993, it has grown to include more than 275,000 students each year nation-wide. The fairs are intended to highlight the importance of history and to provide an opportunity for students to showcase their knowledge of the heritage and culture of Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada.
