Media Advisory: Minister to Participate in Family Literacy Day Activities

In recognition of Family Literacy Day (January 27), the Honourable Joan Burke, Minister of Education, will visit two schools to read to students and discuss the importance of literacy. The minister will be at Stephenville Elementary between 1:30 p.m. 2:00 p.m., today (Friday, January 23), and will visit Lourdes Elementary from 10:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m., on Monday, January 26.

Family Literacy Day, sponsored nationally by ABC Canada, is designed to promote the importance of reading and learning together as a family all year round. Stephenville Elementary and Lourdes Elementary are also participating in a unique Family Literacy Day initiative this year helping break the world record of the most children reading with an adult in multiple locations.
