School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador (SSNL), the governing body for school sponsored sport in the province, will hold its Annual General Meeting May 29-31 at the Airport Inn in St. Johns. Forty-five delegates from all 10 regions of the province will be representing the 125 schools, who are member of SSNL.

Many regulations relating to rule changes have been put forth and will be discussed including revisions in the sports of slo-pitch, basketball, cross-country skiing, badminton and ball hockey. Delegates will also be updated on the status of the Grade 6-9 Participation Nation program.

The hosts for the 45 provincial tournaments for the 2008-09 school year will be ratified at the conclusion of the weekend meetings. Schools will also have one last chance to request changes to their classification for the coming school year.

The SSNL executive consists of 10 regional directors, president and three vice-presidents. Each region elects their regional director and the remaining positions are elected by the general membership on a two-year cycle. Positions up for election at this years AGM include Vice-President Administration and Vice-President Tournaments/Technical.

The SSNL Annual Awards Banquet will be held in conjunction with the AGM and will take place Friday night at the Airport Inn. The provinces top student athletes and coaches will be honoured at this time.
