Junior Shooters Take Three Medals at Toronto Air Gun Grand Prix

This past weekend our provincial junior shooting team, under the guidance of coach Laurie Hearn, competed at the annual Canadian Air Gun Grand Prix in Toronto.

Jason Harnum, of Mount Pearl, took the bronze in sub junior rifle with a 979 / 1200 while St. Catherines Richard Power to the bronze sub junior pistol with 926 /1200.

Samantha Marsh secured the womens sub junior rifle bronze with a 622 / 800. Megan Harris 362 in the same event. Both girls are from Mount Pearl.

Jason, Richard and Samantha have also qualified for next years provincial junior team. Trials to fill the remaining team spots are on going through June of this year.

These shooters are a part of the Canada Games Training Group. Coach Gary Piercey commented that "they (the shooters) far exceeded our expectations" considering that most of them only took up the sport in the fall of 2007.
