Tourism, Culture and Recreation February 7, 2008 The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador: Provincial Basketball Championships The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association (NLBA) will have 35 teams in competition this weekend, February 8-10 for the U12 Boys and Girls Championships. J. J. Curling of Corner Brook will host the West Coast Boys event with nine teams competing while C.C. Loughlin, also of Corner Brook, will entertain eight girls� teams. The East Coast Boys will take place in St. John�s at St. John Bosco and St. Francis of Assisi in Outer Cove with 12 teams competing. The East Coast Girls are scheduled for St. Matthew�s School in St. John�s with a total of six teams entered. Play gets under way on Friday afternoon and will conclude with the championship games on Sunday.
