Information Session

The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner will launch an awareness campaign in the form of a series of town hall meetings to be held at various locations across the island and in Labrador. These meetings will be held throughout the fall.

The initial information sessions will be taking place:

  • October 1, 2008, Capital Hotel, 7:00 � 9:00 p.m., St. John�s
  • October 7, 2008, Hotel Harbour Grace, 7:00 � 9:00 p.m., Harbour Grace
  • October 8, 2008 Clarenville Inn, 7:00 � 9:00 p.m., Clarenville

This event will take the form of a short Powerpoint presentation on the role, function and mandate of the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner as well as the Legislation. Information will also be provided to citizens on how to file a request for review or privacy complaint. This event will also provide an opportunity for the general public to ask questions about access to information or protection of privacy issues as time permits.

The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner is an independent office of the House of Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador. The office is responsible for protecting and upholding access to information and protection of privacy rights under the Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act (ATIPPA). The office will investigate and mediate complaints, as well as make recommendations to government departments and agencies, boards and municipalities.
