Public Advisory: Residents Encouraged to Report Wolf Sightings

Wolf sightings have been reported in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Marys Harbour, Labrador. Residents are encouraged to contact Department of Natural Resources conservation officers to report wolf sightings.

The department has established two contact telephone numbers that will be monitored 24 hours a day, including weekends. Residents can call 709-897-7116 and 709-897-7117 to report sightings. Conservation officers can also be contacted through their local Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment.

The department advises pet owners, especially those living adjacent to wooded areas, to protect their animals by keeping them indoors or in confined areas. Wolves are not known to be a danger to humans. However, anyone who encounters a wolf should avoid direct eye contact and back away slowly from the animal.
