Public Advisory: Province Conducting Prescribed Burns

The Department of Natural Resources advises that it will conduct two prescribed burns this week one near Faulkners Flat and the other near River Brook. In each instance, the burn is being done as part of silviculture management activity to prepare the sites for planting.

The burn near the Colbournes/River Brook area is scheduled for today (Friday, September 12) and will take place approximately 500 metres from the Trans-Canada Highway in Forest Ecosystem Management District 14. This burn was scheduled for last week but postponed due to weather conditions.

The second burn near Faulkners Flat will commence on Sunday, September 14, and will take place approximately seven kilometres south of Hampden. This prescribed burn is located in Forest Ecosystem Management District 16 on the west coast. Each prescribed burn will continue for several days, when weather conditions permit.
