Media Advisory: Minister to Attend
Provincial / Territory The Honourable Dave Denine, Minister of Municipal Affairs, will attend the Provincial / Territorial Meeting of the Ministers Responsible for Local Government in Halifax, July 9-11. Meetings will include sessions on the five priority areas coming out of the 2007 Winnipeg meeting. These include: repositioning the municipal dialogue; federal/provincial/municipal infrastructure funding agreements; duty to consult with First Nations; strengthening rural municipal vitality, and climate change. The climate change session will feature a presentation by Dr. Gordon McBean, a well-respected and award-winning meteorologist, climate change advisor, member of the National Round Table on Environment and Economy and current professor and chair of the Institute for Catastrophic Loss Reduction. - 30 - Media contact: Jennifer Collingwood 2008 07 09 9:15 a.m.
