Government Provides Funding for Provincial Boys and Girls Clubs

The Provincial Government is pleased to support the provinces greatest resources the children and youth of Newfoundland and Labrador. This year, the government is providing $277,800 in funding in operating grants to Boys and Girls Clubs across the province.

"More than 3,500 youth benefit by accessing the programs and services provided by Boys and Girls Clubs across the province," said the Honourable Susan Sullivan, Minister of Human Resources, Labour and Employment. "These clubs provide children and youth with a place where they can develop leadership and personal skills and interact with their peers."

"It is so important to have the support of the Provincial Government," said Jackie McIsaac, provincial co-ordinator, Boys and Girls Clubs. "Receiving funding to run programs related to wellness, leadership, arts and education will help our youth overcome barriers and achieve their potential."

The Boys and Girls Clubs operate across the country and have facilities in Buchans, Norris Arm, Bell Island, St. Johns, St. Anthony, Gander, Upper Island Cove and Botwood. Children and youth aged five to 18 benefit from the programs and services provided by the Boys and Girls Clubs.

"A key priority of our government is to ensure that future generations of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are afforded every opportunity to be successful," said Minister Sullivan. "The Boys and Girls Clubs of Newfoundland and Labrador help enrich the lives of our children and strengthen our society."
