Media Advisory: Portrait of Speaker Thomas Bennett to be Unveiled A ceremony will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday April 22, in the House of Assembly Chamber to unveil a portrait of Speaker Thomas Bennett, the second Speaker of the Legislature from 1834-1837. The portrait of Speaker Bennett has been the only one missing from the collection of Speaker portraits which are in the Chamber. As a result of dedicated and exhaustive research by Trine Schioldan of the Legislative Library, the House came into possession of a photo of Thomas Bennett from which the House was able to commission a portrait of Thomas Bennett painted by local artist, Gerry Squires. -30- Media contact: Marie Keefe 2008 04 18 12:55 p.m.
