Media Advisory: Province and Project Partners to Sign Hebron Agreement

The Honourable Danny Williams, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador, will participate tomorrow (Wednesday, August 20) in a signing ceremony of the final agreement for the Hebron offshore development project. Premier Williams will be joined by: the Honourable Kathy Dunderdale, Minister of Natural Resources; Mark Nelson, President, Chevron Canada Limited; Ed Martin, President and CEO of the province�s energy corporation; Glenn Scott, President, ExxonMobil Canada; Alan Brown, Vice-President, East Coast, Petro-Canada; and, Bruce Brummitt, Senior Vice-President, StatoilHydro Canada. The ceremony will take place at The Fairmont Newfoundland hotel, Salons A and B, in St. John's.

A lock-in technical briefing will be held for media representatives at The Fairmont Newfoundland hotel, Columbus Room, at 10:30 a.m. A media availability will immediately follow the technical briefing, followed by the signing ceremony.

The agenda for the lock-in is as follows:

  • 10:15 a.m. Lock-in area opens (media are asked to arrive no later than 10:20 a.m. for set-up)

  • 10:30 a.m. Technical briefing begins

  • 11:30 a.m. Media availability with Premier Williams, Minister Dunderdale, Mr. Martin, Mr. Nelson and James Bates, Vice-President, Asset Development, Chevron Canada Limited (Columbus Room)

  • 11:55 a.m. Media representatives are escorted to Salons A and B for the signing ceremony

  • 12:00 noon Signing ceremony (Salons A and B)

Media representatives are advised that once they enter the lock-in, they must remain in the room until 11:55 a.m. Wireless communication devices, such as cell phones, Blackberries, and laptop computers, are not permitted in the lock-in area (these devices can be checked at the door). Information provided during the lock-in is strictly embargoed until the commencement of the signing ceremony.

Media representatives who wish to participate in the technical briefing and media availability must contact Doris Walsh at 709-729-3812 or 691-7478 before 4:00 p.m. NL time (2:30 p.m. Eastern) today (Tuesday, August 19).
