Media Advisory: Budget 2008 Lock-in

The Honourable Tom Marshall, Minister of Finance and President of Treasury Board, today announced the 2008 Provincial Budget will be delivered on Tuesday, April 29.

A lock-in for Budget 2008 will be held for media representatives in the Conference Centre, Ground Floor, West Block, Confederation Building.

During the lock-in, media representatives will be provided with advance copies of the budget documents and will have the opportunity to question Minister Marshall, following a news conference.

The agenda for the lock-in is as follows:

  • 9:00 a.m.    Lock-in area opens
  • 9:30 a.m.    Distribution of Budget 2008 documents
  • 11:00 a.m.  News conference with Finance Minister Tom Marshall
  • 12:30 p.m.  Lunch
  • 1:55 p.m.    Media representatives move to the House of Assembly
  • Media representatives may enter the lock-in at any time after 9:00 a.m. Upon entering, however, a person must remain in the lock-in until 2:00 p.m. Media representatives are reminded that wireless communication devices, such as cell phones and Blackberries, are not allowed in the lock-in area. Those in the lock-in will also be required to disable built-in wireless devices on their portable computers.

    Accreditation forms, available from the Communications Branch of Executive Council, must be completed and signed prior to entering the lock-in. Media representatives are requested to complete these forms and return them by 4:00 p.m. today (Friday, April 25). Further information can be obtained by contacting Doris Walsh at 709-729-3812.
