Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Clyde Jackman, acting Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Avondale R.V. Campground and Lodge
Proponent: Jackie McGrath                                                                 (Reg. 1399)

The proposal is located 3.5 kilometres north of the Trans Canada Highway, on the Avondale access road. The development is to occur on 4.9 hectares of land adjacent to the Avondale Main Brook River. Phase one includes the construction of 25 fully serviced campsites, 25 semi-serviced campsites, and 50 non-serviced campsites, a tenting area and playground, a comfort station with laundry facilities, rest rooms, change rooms and showers. Phase two is planned for two years following phase one and will include construction of a lodge. The facility will contain laundry facilities, showers, rest rooms, and change rooms. The final phase is to be developed in the third year and will include 10 drive through, fully serviced R.V. sites and 25 fully serviced sites.

The undertaking was registered on November 18, 2008; public comments are due by December 24, 2008; and, the minister's decision is due by January 2, 2009.
