Cottage Lots for Sale on Baie Verte Peninsula

A public draw for 26 Crown land cottage lots located at Flatwater Pond on the Baie Verte Peninsula will take place on October 23. The draw will be held 11:00 a.m. at the Central Regional Lands Office, 230 Airport Boulevard, Fraser Mall, Gander, to determine the applicant selection order for the lots through a random draw process.

A We are committed to both the prudent management of, and access to, our provinces land resources," said the Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation. "Cottage lots draws like this one are a fair and equitable approach to ensuring that a healthy balance is achieved."

Prices of the lots range from $3,200 to $5,500 and will be sold as grants. The full price for these lots must be paid upon signature of the grant document.

Anyone interested in obtaining a lot must submit an application to the Central Regional Lands Office in Gander. Applications must be received there no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 17. Applications received after that deadline will not be eligible.

An application fee of $113 is required with each application submitted, and it will be credited towards the cost of processing the successful applications. This fee will be fully refunded to applicants who are not successful in the public draw. Applicants may attend this meeting, but attendance is not necessary. Following the random draw meeting, applicants will be contacted by certified mail advising them of the ranking of their application. The selection of lots will take place at a subsequent public meeting at which attendance by applicants, or their proxy, is required.

"Sustainable land use management is a priority for our government, and we are dedicated to utilizing our land holdings in a responsible manner," said Minister Johnson. "In an effort to ensure equal access to this resource, any lots remaining after the lot selection meeting will be offered to the public on a first-come, first-served basis on the next usual business day."

Applicants are advised to inspect lots and view on-site system evaluation reports prior to the selection meeting.

Application forms and information on individual lot location and prices is available on the departments website at www.gov.nl.ca/env/lands/lm or by contacting the Central Regional Lands Office at 709-256-1400.
