Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following event relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Labrador Straits Hiking Trail and Interpretation Areas
Proponent: Labrador Straits Historical Development Corp. (Reg. 1392)

The proponent is to develop a linked network of tourism amenities. The network will be known as the Labrador Pioneer Footpath and will consist of highway pull-offs, interpreted rest areas, wilderness trails linking communities, signage and marketing materials. The interpreted trail system will travel approximately 75 kilometres from L�Anse au Clair to Red Bay.

The undertaking was registered on July 29, 2008; public comments are due by September 3, 2008; and, the minister's decision is due by September 12, 2008.
