Media Advisory: Minister to Address Nature Conservancy of Canada

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, will bring greetings at the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) annual Gifts to Canadians event on Friday, June 20, at MUN Botanical Gardens.

On the seventh anniversary of its annual Gifts to Canadians for Canada Day, the NCC is celebrating 10 conservation successes across the country, including an announcement regarding Sandy Point, Newfoundland and Labrador. Minister Johnson will speak at 10:30 a.m.

The 10 natural areas to be highlighted during the national celebrations are part of the more than 500 properties protected by NCC over the past seven years. Each conserves important habitat for many rare and endangered wildlife species and features examples of how Canadians from coast-to-coast are doing their part to protect Canadas natural legacy.

The NCC is a non-profit, non-advocacy organization dedicated to land conservation and the preservation of biological diversity across the country.
