Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

DRAFT JOINT REVIEW PANEL AGREEMENT AND TERMS OF REFERENCE:

Lower Churchill River Hydroelectric Generation Project
Proponent: Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro                 (Reg. 1305)

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency (the Agency) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Environment and Conservation (the Department) invite public comments on the draft agreement and terms of reference to establish a joint review panel for the proposed Lower Churchill Hydroelectric Generation Project.

The agreement was developed in order to establish a joint environmental assessment of the proposed project. The agreement includes procedures for appointing independent panel members to conduct public hearings, the proposed terms of reference for the panel, and procedures for conducting the review process.

Written comments on the draft agreement received by July 5, 2008, will be considered. Forward your comments, in the official language of your choice, by fax, mail or e-mail to:
