Environmental Assessment Bulletin

The Honourable Charlene Johnson, Minister of Environment and Conservation, has announced the following events relative to Part 10 Environmental Assessment of the Environmental Protection Act.

UNDERTAKING WITHDRAWN:

Bloom Lake Iron Project Railway
Proponent: Consolidated Thompson-Lundmark Gold Mines Ltd.      (Reg.1263)

UNDERTAKING REGISTERED:

Salmonier Cottage Development Plan
Proponent: Department of Environment and Conservation, Lands Branch       (Reg.1377)

The proposal is to develop approximately 340 cottage lots in and around the general location of the former Salmonier Correctional Institute, located on the Salmonier Line (Route 90). The proposed development is approximately 1,000 hectares, and will include up to 340, one acre (0.4 ha) unserviced cottage lots. A total of 18 kilometres of new road will be constructed. Road construction and lot allocation will take place in a phased manner over an anticipated five year period. Construction is tentatively scheduled to start the summer of 2008.

This undertaking was registered on April 23, 2008; public comments are due by May 29, 2008; and, the minister's decision is due by June 7, 2008.

Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown.
