Provincial Government Adds Extra Ferry Run for Labrador Christmas Travellers

The Honourable Dianne Whalen, Minister of Transportation and Works, announced today the Provincial Government has added an additional run across the Strait of Belle Isle for the M.V. Apollo on Saturday, December 22.

There will now be two runs and Minister Whalen said the extra trip will accommodate increased traffic expected during the holiday season.

"Just like in any part of the province, Labradorians will be heading home in the days leading up to Christmas and we want to ensure that everyone who wants to get on that ferry will have the opportunity," said Minister Whalen.

The Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Labrador Affairs, says this announcement is another good example of the Provincial Government meeting the needs of the travelling public.

"The holiday season can be a chaotic time, even for the most seasoned travellers," said Minister Hickey. "People heading to and from the Straits of Labrador can rest assured that the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador will continue to work diligently to meet their needs."
