Over $1.5 Million for Road and Bridge Improvements in Kilbride District

Driving conditions on Pitts Memorial Drive will be enhanced as a result of the 2007 Budgets $66.5 million Provincial Roads Improvement Program. The Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced an investment of more than $1.5 million for road and bridge improvements in the Kilbride area.

"Motorists have expressed their concerns regarding road conditions on Pitts Memorial Drive," said Minister Hickey. "We have recognized the need for repairs to this highway and have responded with this substantial investment."

This year, in the District of Kilbride, government will repair the South Brook Bridge, work which was carried over from the previous construction season, and will repair deteriorated areas of Route 2, Pitts Memorial Drive.

"I am very pleased with this investment in road improvements for my district," said John Dinn, MHA for the District of Kilbride. "I have no doubts that these enhancements will address concerns and create a better driving experience on Pitts Memorial Drive."

Government estimates the Provincial Roads Improvement Program creates 1,200 person years of employment. This is the second year of governments six-year strategy for infrastructure improvements exceeding $2 billion.
