Transportation and Works April 17, 2007 $2.2 Million Allocated for Road Work in Harbour Main-Whitbourne District Motorists will be pleased with this year�s road improvements in the Harbour Main-Whitbourne Area. The Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced an investment of $2.2 million for road repairs in the area. "This is another example of government�s continued commitment to improving transportation infrastructure throughout the province," said Minister Hickey. "We recognize that there is a need for improvements to our roads network and have therefore allocated $66.5 million for the Provincial Roads Improvement Program." The road projects planned for the district of Harbour Main-Whitbourne are: The Honourable Tom Hedderson, MHA for the District of Harbour Main-Whitbourne, said: "I am very pleased with this significant investment for road infrastructure in my district. This increased funding will allow substantial upgrading of the road system and will go a long way to improving driving conditions for the traveling public in the Harbour Main-Whitbourne area." Government estimates the Provincial Roads Improvement Program creates 1,200 person years of employment, with 94 per cent of the work being done in rural areas.
