$1 Million Announced for Road Improvements in Grand Bank District

Improved driving conditions are on the way for motorists in the Grand Bank area. The Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Transportation and Works, today announced an investment of $1 million for road improvements for the area.

"This is another example of governments ongoing commitment to improving transportation infrastructure in Newfoundland and Labrador," said Minister Hickey. "We recognize the need for road improvements throughout the province and have therefore added an extra $6.5 million to this years Provincial Roads Improvement Program, bringing the total investment to $66.5 million."

In the District of Grand Bank, government will pulverize and repave Route 220 from St. Lawrence towards Lawn and St. Lawrence towards Epworth.

Government estimates the Provincial Roads Improvement Program creates 1,200 person years of employment, with 94 per cent of the work being done in rural areas.
