Government Invests $3M in Trinity-Bay de Verde Roads
Roads in Trinity-Bay de Verde will receive a major facelift this year as government announced it will invest $3 million to improve the local transportation network.
"Not only will this funding significantly enhance the driving experience in Trinity-Bay de Verde, it will create jobs in rural communities," said the Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Transportation and Works. "In fact, we estimate the $60 million Provincial Roads Improvement Program will generate 1,200 person years of employment."
Funding for this yearís Provincial Roads Improvement Program matches last yearís investment and was once again announced prior to budget which allows tendering and construction to begin earlier than the norm.
Ninety-four per cent of the Provincial Roads Improvement Program will fund repairs outside the North East Avalon Region.
Road improvements slated for Trinity-Bay de Verde are:
