Government Hires Real Estate Broker to Sell Former Janeway Properties

For Sale signs will soon be placed in front of the former Janeway Childrens Hospital in Pleasantville.

The Honourable John Hickey, Minister of Transportation and Works, announced today that real estate broker Martek Morgan Finch Inc. of St. Johns has been selected to market the Janeway properties, which include the former hospital, apartments, hostel and accompanying grounds.

In consultation with the broker, government will determine the most effective manner in which to advertise and promote these properties for sale.

Since the Williams government took office we have been moving forward with a plan to address the issue of surplus buildings, said Minister Hickey. The former Janeway Hospital site is a significant piece of real estate and we are hopeful we can find a buyer.

A comprehensive marketing plan will be developed by Martek Morgan Finch in the coming weeks, prior to the other properties adjacent to the former Janeway Hospital becoming available for purchase.

The former Janeway Hospital closed its doors in 2001 and relocated to its current location, attached to the Health Sciences Centre.
