Olympics Through In-store Fundraising Campaign
Dreams can come true every day in communities across
Canada, when you donate through the Give a Dollar. Share a Dream.
campaign from November 1 until November 17 at a local STAPLES Business
Depot.
Now in its eighth year, Give a Dollar. Share a
Dream raises funds to maintain and develop community sports programs
for Special Olympics athletes.
"The benefits of the Give a Dollar. Share a Dream
campaign are evident on and off the playing field," said Deborah Bright,
Special Olympics Canada President and CEO. "Thanks to the support of
STAPLES Business Depot and its customers, Special Olympics athletes can
better perform in all aspects of their lives, through their involvement
in sport."
"Without the Give a Dollar. Share a Dream
program, and the support of companies like STAPLES Business Depot, my
dream of winning a gold medal could not have come true," said Christina
Campbell (Chesterville, Ontario), Special Olympics 2007 Team Canada gold
medal winner and the face of the 2007 Give a Dollar. Share a Dream.
campaign. The Give a Dollar. Share a Dream campaign is especially
close to a local Newfoundland and Labrador athlete, Eddie Hynes from
Mount Pearl. Eddie is a member of Team Newfoundland and Labrador that
will be representing the province at the 2008 Special Olympics Canada
Winter Games in Quebec City but he is also a STAPLES Business Depot
associate."
Over the past seven years, the Give a Dollar. Share
a Dream campaign has raised more than $2.5 million for Special
Olympics Canada. In 2006, the campaign raised $527,202 for Special
Olympics, and this years goal is to continue to build on that success.
"STAPLES Business Depot is committed to improving the
lives of Special Olympic athletes all across Canada. Through the annual
Give a Dollar. Share a Dream. campaign our associates and
customers make a direct and positive impact on the lives of Special
Olympics athletes in the communities in which they work and live," said
Steve Maytas, President, STAPLES Business Depot.
This year's Give a Dollar. Share a Dream
campaign will run for more than two weeks, from Thursday, November 1 to
Saturday, November 17.
Together Canadians can make a difference in the lives
of athletes with an intellectual disability and help provide a venue for
Special Olympics athletes to achieve personal goals on and off the
playing field.
