NLSA Technical Level 1 Pistol Coaching
Course
The Newfoundland and Labrador Shooting Association
will be offering the NCCP Level 1 Technical Pistol Coaching course,
November 10-11. Lead instructor Patrick Haynes is former National Team
coach, Team Ontario Canada Games pistol coach and personal coach to
Avianna Chao, an athlete with a quota spot for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
His coaching experience has allowed him to work many Canadian shooters
competing at the Canada Winter Games, the World Cup, Commonwealth Games
and Pan Am Games. Patrick is certified NCCP level 3 in pistol coaching
and is currently working towards international certification. This
course will be held in the High Performance Marksmanship and CSSA
Training Facility, Room PE 1002 on the lower level of the School of
Human Kinetics and Recreation.
The NCCP Technical Level 1 Pistol Coaching clinic is
for anyone interested in becoming a pistol coach. Coaches will learn the
base technical knowledge for coaching pistol athletes. The main focus
will be on air pistol but the clinic will also address the other Olympic
disciplines. This clinic begins November 10 and concludes noon on the 11th.
Beginning on the afternoon of November 11 coaches will have an
opportunity to practice skills learned in the coaching course with
athletes participating in the following marksmanship clinic. Anyone
